Bangalore, Dec 29 (ANI): Karnataka has been put on high alert following an intelligence input about Bangalore being under terror threat.

Following a high-level meeting between the Chief Minister B. S. Yeddyurappa and senior police officials, elaborate security arrangements have been put in place in time for New Year's Eve.

"Based on the inputs and the instructions the Chief Minister has given us, we are fully prepared for meeting any eventuality. A lot of arrangements have been made for this," said Suneel Kumar, Additional Commissioner of Police of Bangalore.

"We have also plan to deploy additional force. The city's entire police strength of 18,000 will be on duty on December 31," he added.

Earlier, Yeddyurappa said: "A high alert has been sounded in the state, especially in coastal districts, following an alert from the Centre."

"A 550-member strong para-military force provided by the Centre has been stationed here for deployment during exigency. Security and vigil has been scaled up in coastal areas," he added.

Security has also been tightened at the all reservoirs and malls in the state following the alert. (ANI)
