New Delhi, Dec 28: Congress led UPA government during its second term always denied any pressure for the increasing price rise and inflation at several time. But the party, finally, confessed that price rise always haunted them during their second tenure.

A book, 'Congress and the Making of the Indian Nation', which has been brought up by the Congress party in its plenary meeting, revealed statement by Congress, "Inflation based on high prices of food-grains continues to be a challenge."

"This is vital for the Congress at a time when it is projecting itself as a party of responsible governance," stated the book, whose chief editor is Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee.

Expressing on Congress' view on Pakistan-US relation, the book claimed, "India's traditional enemy Pakistan is strengthened by being an ally of the US, in its 'war against terror' in Afghanistan."

For the party, the focus on issues related to economic development and empowerment of the underprivileged continue to counter the cast and communal forces in the country.
