2G scam: AIADMK demands dismissal of DMK Govt. for defending Raja

Thiruchirapalli, Dec 28 (ANI): Thousands of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) leaders and supporters staged a mass protest here on Tuesday demanding the arrest of former Telecom Minister A. Raja for his alleged involvement in the 2G spectrum scam, and the dismissal of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) Government in the State.

olding flags and banners, the AIADMK supporters slammed Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK supremo M Karunanidhi charging him of defending and lending a helping hand to the tainted Raja.

AIADMK Secretary (Literary Wing) Vaigai Selvan said the 2G scam is the biggest scam in the history of India.

"The 2G spectrum 1.76 lakh crore scam is the biggest in the history. We are demanding the arrest of A. Raja and his interrogation. We have also demand JPC probe into the alleged scam of 2G," said Selvan.

"Karunanidhi is the reason for all these and he is responsible for this as such his DMK government should be dismissed. With these demands we of AIADMK with the support of the masses are protesting in Thiruchi and the entire district," she added.

Earlier on Monday, the AIADMK supporters staged a hunger strike in Raja's turf Perambalur and demanded his arrest over the scam.

Raja was forced to resign last month after a report of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) faulted Raja for undervaluing spectrum to favour companies who were largely ineligible for 2G spectrum, and added that the government had probably lost Rs.1.76 lakh crore in estimated revenue. (ANI)
