Onion tears to continue for 3 more weeks?

New Delhi, Dec 21: While the country is shedding onion tears, Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar on Tuesday, Dec 21 assured people that the price of onion will come down within 3 weeks.

"Onion prices will remain high for the next three weeks and the situation is likely to improve only after two-three weeks. Ban on onion exports should help reduce the prices," stated Pawar.

Following the rising price of onions, Government of India on Dec 20 decided to stop onion exports till Jan 15 in the wake of controlling the situation.

The price of onions differ from place to place as in New Delhi, people are paying Rs 60 to Rs 80 a killo and on ther side, South Indian cities like Bangalore and Chennai are paying Rs 70 and 80 a kilo.
