Capital city the hub of 'rapists'
National Commission for Women (NCW) chair person Girija Vyas said on Monday, Dec 13, “rape cases are serious issue and it is repeating again and again. I think that unless the culprits get severe punishment, the cases will occur again and again."
She pointed out the number of rape cases that took place in Delhi in recent days. On Saturday, Dec 12, night a 18-year-old girl was abducted and raped in a moving car. Few days back a 30 year old BPO employee was gang raped and 22-year-old woman was abducted and raped by six men in northeast Delhi last week.
The rape cases in capital city is increasing day by day. Vyas said that she is up to meet Delhi Police Commissioner BK Gupta to discuss the steps taken to ensure the safety of women in Delhi.
Gupta said, “an additional 300 police control room (PCR) vans will be deployed to patrol the capital's roads and gender sensitisation workshops will also be organised at police stations."
According to sources, Delhi Police has issued notice to all BPO companies to pickup and drop the female employees at their doorstep.
