Beijing, Dec 9: Ahead of 2010 Nobel prize award ceremony in Oslo, China has blocked the websites of several foreign media outlets on Thursday, Dec 9.

The Nobel prize award ceremony would be held on Friday, Dec 10 where the Nobel committee would honour imprisoned 2010 Nobel peace laureate, Liu Xiaobo.

Chinese media reported that while trying to login to foreign media websites, the error message, "Internet Explorer cannot display the web page," has been appeared on the screen.

China jailed Liu Xiaobo in Dec 2009 for 11 years on charges of co-authoring an appeal for political reform against Chinese Communist government. China appealed other nations to boycott the Nobel ceremony in Oslo.

China described selection of Liu Xiaobo for Nobel prize as a Western plot against the nation and its government.
