Zardari, Gilani decide to keep mum over WikiLeaks releases

Islamabad, Dec 2 (ANI): Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani have decided to keep quiet on the US diplomatic cables released by whistle-blower website WikiLeaks.

According to sources, Gilani called on Zardari at the Presidency on Wednesday, and both leaders discussed the leaked cables and their possible fallout, the Dawn reported.

President's spokesman Farhatullah Babar was not available for comments; however, a senior official said that the media team of the presidency had been asked not to issue any comment on WikiLeaks reports.

Later, the spokesman issued a press release saying that the meeting focussed on the recent visit of Zardari to Sri Lanka.

"The prime minister felicitated the president on a very successful and productive visit to Sri Lanka which will help to further cement and strengthen bilateral relations," he said.

The president briefed the prime minister on a series of meetings held with the Sri Lankan leadership and the signing of three agreements and two Memorandum of Understandings, the statement added. (ANI)
