Appleby bags Australian Masters; no wins for Woods

By Abdul Nisar
Melbourne, Nov 14: Australian golfer Stuart Appleby has won the Australian Masters at Victoria Golf Club on Sunday, Nov 14.

With this win in home ground, Appleby ended nine years drought for a tittle at home. He last won on native soil in the 2001 Australian Open. Earlier in this year, he won The Greenbrier Classic in West Virginia.

Appleby started the day seven shots behind the overnight leader, South Australia's Adam Bland. But he shot a bogey-free six-under-par final round 65.
Adam Bland missed a 10-foot eagle putt on the last hole that would have forced a playoff.

American 14-time major winner and defending champion Tiger Woods finished a calendar year without a victory for the first time in his career.
