New Maha CM: Prithviraj takes oath in Marathi
Along with Chavan, National Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar also has taken the oath as the new Deputy CM of the state during the same ceremony.
Earlier, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray asked Chavan to take the oath in Marathi as Thackeray claimed, "Prithviraj Chavan is originally from Karad and therefore as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra he should take oath in Marathi."
Following Adarsh housing scam, former Chief Minister of the state Ashok Chavan was asked to resign from his post for his alleged role in the scandal.
After the incident, Congress on Wednesday, Nov 10 named Prithviraj Chavan as the new Chief Minister of the state.
