Prithviraj Chavan to be new Maha CM?
Sonia is likely to announce the name of the new Maharashtra Chief Minister on Wednesday, Nov 10, a day after Ashok Chavan was ousted from the post over his alleged involvement in the Adarsh housing society scam.
The name of Prithviraj Chavan, a prominent Maratha leader, has been doing the rounds as the likely candidate for the Chief Minister's post in Maharashtra after Congress' ally NCP's indicated that it might bring Ajit Pawar, another leader from the dominant Marathi community, as the deputy chief minister.
Besides Prithviraj Chavan, Maharashtra minister Balasaheb Thorat's name had also emerged during the search for the next Maharashtra CM.
The Congress Legislative Party (CLP) on Tuesday, Nov 9 authorised Sonia Gandhi to choose Maharashtra's new leader.
