TN: Interior districts face cyclone Jal's wrath
The official from the Regional Meteorological Center (RMC) stated, "At least 10 districts in the state received substantial amount of rain."
Cyclonic storm Jal, which was reportedly expected to bring down more thunder showers and heavy rains over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka by the night of Nov 8, lost its strength and moved towards slightly westwards.
Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Nov 8 reported that south interior and coastal Karnataka are expected to see heavy to very heavy falls during next 36 hours.
According to government official report, the "Jal" so far claimed five lives in different districts in Andhra Pradesh.
The state government of Andhra Pradesh evacuated about 6,000 people and was running 30 relief camps in seven coastal districts, government official reported.
