Obama visits Rajghat, pays homage to Mahatma Gandhi

New Delhi, Nov 8 (ANI): US President Barack Obama visited Rajghat, the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi, to pay homage to the Father of the Nation on Monday.

Obama and First Lady Michelle placed wreaths on Gandhi's 'samadhi'.

Later, Obama left for Hyderabad House to hold restricted as well as bilateral level talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the Indian delegation.

The Prime Minister is being assisted by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and National Security Advisor Shiv Shankar Menon at the restricted talks, which is lasted for 50 minutes.

Earlier, the U.S First Couple were accorded a ceremonial reception in the Rashtrapati Bhavan this morning.

They were welcomed warmly by President Pratibha Patil and her husband Devisingh Patil.

They were then greeted by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his wife Gursharan Kaur.

Obama then inspected a tri-service Guard of Honour.

In the evening, he will address a joint sitting of Parliament before attending a state banquet hosted in his honour at Rashtrapati Bhavan. (ANI)
