Guwahati, Nov.7 (ANI): The Assam Chief Minister, Tarun Gogoi, on Sunday dedicated a health information helpline service, known as the 'Sarathi 104', to the people of the State.

With this Assam became the second State in the country after Andhra Pradesh to have launched this service.

Gogoi, while speaking on the occasion, said this service would provide timely medical advice to the people, especially in interior and far-flung areas of the State.

The Chief Minister said the State Government has accorded top priorities to two key sectors - health and education, adding his Government would provide 25 lakh medicine-laced mosquito nets to people living in malaria-affected bordering areas.

Speaking on this occasion, the State Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma said the people would no longer have to wait in queues to seek a doctor's help or advice, as all health-related information would be readily available round-the-clock just by making a call through mobile or landline phones.

He added, the health information helpline would not only provide counseling to callers for any health-related problems but also prescribed medicines through SMS. (ANI)
