New Delhi, Nov 1: The much awaited Mobile Number Portability (MNP) has again delayed to Nov 25. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has announced on Monday, Nov 1 that the MNP will be roll out from Nov 25.

Earlier on Tuesday, Oct 27, Union minister for communications A Raja announced that the MNP will be launched in Haryana on Nov 1. The DoT officials told that it is necessary to carefully test the capability of the networks of all operators and extend the facility in a suitably phased manner to all service areas.

Earlier DoT set the deadline for MNP as Dec 31, 2009 but shifted to Mar 31, 2010. Later it postponed to June 30, 2010 but due to the lack of proper infrastructure, it again reset to Nov 1, 2010. And now this date again moved to Nov 25, 2010.

The MNP allows the users to retain their old number while switching to new mobile operators by paying a nominal fee.
