Ahmedabad: Student kills fiancee to marry ex

Ahmedabad, Oct 30: In yet another act of mindless crime, an engineering student decided to eliminate his fiancee to clear way for his desired marriage with his ex-girlfriend.

Police on Friday, Oct 29 said that Mahendra Sadhu and his friend Hardik Gohil were arrested for killing Priyanka Ramanuj.

The arrests came after the dead body of Priyanka, Sadhu's fiancee, was recovered from a sewer on the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Highway on Oct 24.

Sadhu has reportedly confessed to killing Priyanka, who has been missing since Oct 21.

According to the police, Sadhu had decided to eliminate Priyanka as he wanted to marry his former girlfriend, who was now living with her parents in Dubai.

Priyanka was picked up on Oct 21 by the two accused, who told her that they were going for a car ride. The duo later drugged her with sedatives in water to make the victim unconscious.

Sadhu later strangled her and with the help of his friend, Gohil, he dumped Priyanka's body in sewer.

This case is similar to the 2003 murder of an Intel employee in Bangalore. Girish was murdered by his fiance, Shubha and her boyfriend Arun Verma.
