London, Oct 24 (ANI): A lawyer representing several Iraqi clients has controversially revealed that a British soldier killed an eight-year-old Iraqi girl while she was playing on a street.
Phil Shiner said the girl was killed as other soldiers were handing out sweets to kids to win 'hearts and minds'.
'The tank stopped at the end of the street. She is there in her yellow dress, a rifleman pops up and blows her away,' The Daily Star quoted Shiner, as saying.
Shiner made the claim after 400,000 secret US military reports were posted online by whistleblowing website Wikileaks.
Shiner also claimed at least eight Iraqis died while in British detention during the war.
He also accused British soldiers of having sex in front of Iraqi detainees and often showing them porn.
Shiner's war crime claims are not backed by the documents produced by Wikileaks. The files show that the American forces failed to investigate torture and killings by Iraqi police and soldiers.
The files also reveal that 15,000 more people died in the war than previously thought. (ANI)
