London, Oct 22: After footballer, Wayne Rooney confirmed his decision to leave Manchester United and join Manchester City on Oct 20, a mob on Oct 21 protested in front of his house with placards, which revealed anti-Rooney slogans.
With banners, which carried messages like, "Sign for City and you're dead," the mob repeatedly buzzed his intercom, saying, "We want to talk to you. We want you to explain the real reason you want to leave. We're not going to hurt you."
However, police were called to the striker's home and the police officials provided Rooney and his family special protection.
