Delhi Games 2010
New Delhi, Oct 22: Now Commonwealth Games' broadcasting rights came under the scanner as reports revealed that Rs 246 crore contract was given to London-based SIS Live despite of its dubious legal status.

According the income tax officials, SIS Live registration number was found to be forged during verifications as SIS Live came into existence only in Jan 2010, four months after the bidding formalities were over.

The income tax officials became more suspicious when they saw that Prasar Bharati boss cleared the payment of most of the contract fee to SIS Live, which got 80 percent of the fee despite doubts about its legal status even before the Games ended.

However, Prasar Bharti Chairman, BS Balli stated, "We do things in a manner that's procedurally correct and in a transparent manner."

"The apex body in Prasar Bharti decided on the release of payment to SIS. Nobody recommended that payment to SIS not be released," he added.
