Melbourne, Oct 21(ANI): A 20-year-old Australian man, facing jail for bashing and robbing Indian student Lucky Singh in Melbourne last year, has said that despite the 'Indian dog' slur, the attack was not racially motivated.

Comensoli told the Victorian County Court that he did not dispute Singh's account of the bashing, in which the 23-year-old was also called an "Indian motherf----r", but said that he simply attacked him because he wanted a fight.

Comensoli insisted that one of the reasons attacked Singh was because the victim's blood landed on him as he was being bashed by co-accused Lennon Metaxas, the Age reports.

He also disputed that he told psychologist Gregg Shinkfield that he continued to hit Singh until he fell to the ground unconscious.

The 20-year-old said that the victim became unconscious as a result of Metaxas kneeing him to the head.

Comensoli has pleaded guilty to intentionally causing serious injury and robbery.omensoli and his friend Metaxas had attacked Singh in a phone booth in Sunshine on October 15, 2009.

Singh was so badly bashed that he was left bleeding and unconscious on the footpath, with bone fractures, severe swelling and bruising.

Metaxas has already been sentenced to three years in a youth justice centre.

The case was adjourned for further plea to a date to be fixed. (ANI)
