Calvin Klein ad could fuel cases of gang rape, say experts

Melbourne, Oct 20 (ANI): A Calvin Klein's jeans ad has connotations of gang rape, according to sexual assault workers.

Experts fear images portraying violence against women in advertising could fuel cases of gang rape, reports the Daily Telegraph.

Clinical psychologist Alison Grundy, who works with sex abuse victims, said advertisers were reaching a dangerous new low by using sexual violence as a marketing tool.

"If we continue to subject future generations of young men to great barrages of aggressive, misogynist, over-sexualised and violent imagery in pornography, movies, computer games and advertising, we will continue to see the rates of sexual violence against women and children that continue unabated today. Or worse," she said.

Grundy said advertisers were blurring the line between rape and group sex and the Calvin Klein poster was "clearly intimating" the gang rape of a woman.

She told the Herald Sun the Calvin Klein ad was being interpreted as a rape. (ANI)
