Lahore, Oct 18 (ANI): There must be no politics within an institution, and the Pakistan Parliament is the sole authority to amend the Constitution, Federal Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Senator Dr Babar Awan has said.
"We will not let emergence of a state within the state," The News quoted Babar, as saying while talking to the media. ater, addressing Pakistan People's Party (PPP) workers in Lahore, he said that some people were doing politics in the name of institutions, although those in the government service were not allowed to indulge in politics.
While government employees could not save the Constitution, public representatives sitting in assemblies can, said Babar, adding that those hatching conspiracies against the government were, in fact, enemies of democracy.
He also urged the political parties to play their role in strengthening the institutions in the country, and declared Pakistan and the PPP two sides of the same coin.
He also claimed that various people who benefited from the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) were now engaged in its vilification, and noted that the first petition against it was filed by Shahbaz Sharif.
Responding to a query on mid-term polls, Babar said the political parties must get ready, but for the polls to be held in 2013, as the government would complete its constitutional term. (ANI)
