3 killed, 5 injured in Haiti prison riot
The United Nations peacekeepers in Haiti said five peacekeepers were injured when the stepped in to end the prison riot, which lasted of hours.
National police spokesman Frantz Lerebours says the stand-off started when a prisoner stole a guard's submachine gun in an escape attempt.
The man began unlocking prison cells and the mob then took eight hostages at gunpoint, among them five prison guards, two foreign aid workers, and a prison clerk.
Mr Lerebours says the mob released the two aid workers as well as the prison clerk.
