CWG hockey: Indo-Pak clash to grab seat in semis

By Abdul Nisar
New Delhi, Oct 10: Indian hockey team will face Pakistan in Group A match to enter semi-finals of the event in Commonwealth Games on Sunday, Oct 10.

This match is a do-or-die match for both teams as a win for either team propels them into the semis. Pakistan can move forward with a draw, while India need a win to join Australia to progress to the semifinals.

It is considered as the most anticipated game of the Commonwealth Games as India-Pakistan match is always attractive and exciting. Earlier in this tournament India defeated Malaysia and Scotland but failed against Australia.

Pakistan also defeated Malaysia and Scotland but showed more consistency against Australia, even though they failed in the match. Pakistan has the advantage of better goal average against India and a draw against the neighbour rival will give them a seat in semis.

The nail-biting match will start at 7.00 pm at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium. Police officials told that more security has been provided for the match as number of VIPs are expected. Many ministers and embassy officials are expected to come to watch the match.
