New Delhi, Oct 8: Indian top seed Somdev Devvarman has reached the final stage in his relentless journey towards the gold as he stormed into the finals of debut tennis tournament at the Delhi Commonwealth Games.
The world number 97 overcame world number 165 Matthew Ebden, 6-3 6-1 on Friday, Oct 8 to ensure at least a silver medal for the host country in tennis at the CWG 2010.
The one hour and 11 minutes fight Somdev put up in the men's singles semifinals at the Centre Court of the RK Khanna Tennis stadium has given many hopes that the Indian would be able to clinch the gold.
Somdev will next go head-on against either second seed Peter Luczak or fifth seed Greg Jones, depending on who would win the all-Australian semifinal bout.
