CWG: Ashish, 1st Indian gymnast wins medal

New Delhi, Oct 8: 19-year-old Ashish Kumar from Allahabad made history in Indian gymnastics by grabbing the first bronze medal in Commonwealth Games on Oct 8.

"I was expecting a Gold but got a Bronze. Anyway something is better than nothing," stated Ashish, who was the first one to qualify for the final in the vault category on Oct 8.

After winning the medal, Ashis, popularly known as "Crazy gymnast" stated, "I was very tensed but also knew that if I miss this opportunity, I may never get another one."

His statement added, "When I was on the floor, there were judges, supporting crowd and my name. That gave me confidence and then I started my complete set."

Ashis aided India to break its jinx of never having won a gymnastics medal at the Games.
