BS Yeddyurappa
Bangalore, Oct 6: The Governor of Karnataka, H R Bhardwaj has reportedly asked Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa to prove majority by Oct 12 just as the BJP government in the state was hit by another mutiny.

20 MLAs, including 15 of the ruling BJP and five independents, have withdrawn support to the B S Yeddyurappa government.

The MLAs have submitted a letter to the Governor declaring withdrawal of support, revealed rebel leader P M Narendraswamy, who met the governor on Wednesday, Oct 6.

This came after the CM sacked four dissident ministers, namely Shivaraj Thangadagi, Venkataramanappa, P M Narendraswamy and D Sudhakar.

Party position in Karnataka Assembly

BJP 117
Janata Dal(S) 28
Congress 72
Independents 6

It should be noted that the sacked ministers were independents. Their support became crucial for BSY to form the government in May 2008 when BJP had failed to claim a majority in the Assembly polls.
