Islamabad, Oct 6 (ANI): Pakistan Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani, who is facing allegations of a massive corruption and misgovernance, has reportedly asked the government officials not to have 'direct contact' with the media or to hold press conferences without proper authorisation.

According to The Nation, a government circular was issued on September 16 following a cabinet decision in this regard.

"Government officials unless so authorized are not allowed to hold press conference and to have direct contacts with media and should adhere to the provisions of the Conduct and Efficiency and Discipline Rules 1973 in letter and spirit," it said.

The government circular contains no explanation as to why the officials have been barred from communicating with the media, but it warned that anyone found violating the decision would face disciplinary proceedings.

"In case the officials fail to comply with the instruction, disciplinary proceedings under Conduct and Efficiency and Discipline Rules 1973 may be initiated and report forwarded to this Division for onward transmission to the Cabinet Division," the circular read. (ANI)
