By Samyuktha
New Delhi, Oct 5: Overpowering Bahamas' Devin Mullings 6-4 6-2 in a rather close match, top seeded Indian Somdev Devvarman marched into the second round of the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2010 on Tuesday, Oct 5.

The home crowd that gathered to cheer for the Indian was in for a rude shock in the first set as Mullings claimed a 4-1 lead.

However, Somdev managed to pick his game up and put himself ahead with a second break of 5-2.

Once he cleaned up his act under the scorching sun over the Centre Court, Somdev received huge amount of encouragement from the crowds, which also seemed to motivate him further.

With this victory, Somdev enters the pre-quarterfinals of the men's singles tennis event of the Delhi Commonwealth Games.
