Market closes with modest lose, Sensex at 20407

Mumbai, Oct 5: After watching a consolidation for the entire session, NSE Nifty ended with a modest note on Tuesday, Oct 5.

The selling pressures of financial, metal, FMCG and select technology including Bharti, NTPC, L&T, Tata Motors, DLF and ONGC's shares kept the market marginally down in late trade.

The Sensex closed at 20407, down 68 points and the Nifty was at 6145, down 13 points. The broader indices outperformed benchmarks; the BSE Midcap was up 0.8 percent and Smallcap up 1.1 percent.

Suzlon Energy, Sesa Goa, Ranbaxy Labs, Reliance Comm were among the top gainers with 7.17 percent, 5.30 percent, 5.16 percent, 2.92 percent up respectively.

HDFC, HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, HUL were among the top losers with 2.50 percent, 1.85 percent, 1.72 percent, 1.47 percent down respectively.

Trade continues in green; BHEL up

At 2:24 hrs, the Sensex was trading at 20528.21, up 52.48 points and the Nifty was at 6180.00, up 20.55 points. About 1757 shares advanced, 1284 shares declined, and 371 shares remain unchanged.

Reliance Communications, Reliance Power, Reliance Infra, Ambuja Cements and BHEL were up 1.4-2.4 percent and where as HUL, HDFC, HDFC Bank, NTPC and ICICI Bank were down 0.9-1.7 percent.

Reliance was trading up 0.43 percent, Infosys was trading up 0.11 percent and Cigarette major ITC was trading down 0.6 percent.

Sintex India, JM Financial, Hindustan Oil Exploration, KS Oils and Patni Computer were the top gainers, and where as Eicher Motors, Pipavav Shipyard, Peninsula Land, Ipca Labs and MVL were the top losers.

Nifty trades in narrow range; banks dip

At 12: 47 hrs, the Sensex was trading at 20448.93, down 26.80 points and the Nifty was at 6154.50, down 4.95 points.

In financial space, ICICI Bank, HDFC and HDFC Bank were down 0.5-1.5 percent. SBI and PNB slipped marginally. Where as HUL from FMCG space fell 1.5 percent and ITC was down 0.14 percent.

Capital goods, oil & gas, auto, cement, healthcare, select power and metal companies' shares along with Infosys were quite supportive to the markets.

Reliance Power, Reliance Infra, Mah and Mah, Reliance Comm were top gainers.

Nifty opens on flat note; HDFC dip

The benchmark Nifty started the day on a flat note. At 9:30 hrs, the Sensex was trading at 20461.57, down 14.16 points and the Nifty was at 6157.05, down 2.40 points.

ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, HUL, HDFC, Reliance Industries, SAIL, Tata Steel, HCL Tech, Wipro and Bharti Airtel were on selling pressure.

Where as, Ranbaxy Labs, ACC, Ambuja Cements, Dr Reddys Labs, M&M, Bajaj Auto, Reliance Infra, Reliance Cap and Reliance Power were on buyers' radar.

TVS Motor and United Spirtis fell 1 percent each. Bajaj Hindusthan and Balrampur Chini were marginally down.
