New Delhi, Oct.4 (ANI): Senior Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader and politburo member Sitaram Yechury on Monday claimed that the party is regaining its lost confidence amongst the people of West Bengal.
"It is changing for better. In Bengal, the situation is changing for better. In last one week, if you have noticed that there has been a very big mobilisation all over the state. The chief minister's rally in Midnapur was probably one of the largest rally ever held in that district and coming in background of the entire disturbances in Lal Garh," said Yechury.
"This is virtually in the Lal Garh area the meeting were held. And you had the seen two big meetings, one of the students state conference in Farraka, where I had gone also a very big meeting of women that was held in Kolkata. There was very big meeting of Tribals. That all happened in last three-four days. So situation is turning around," said Yechury.
Briefing reporters about the politburo meeting that started on Monday (October 4) in New Delhi, Yechury said that many major issues based on the present political condition are to be discussed.
"The two day PB (Politburo) meet has started today. We have discussed about the present political condition. We are also going to discuss about the upcoming elections in the state of Bihar. There we would have a communist alliance. All these discussions would take time to get some conclusion, as it has just started and by tomorrow we would tell you every thing," said Yechury.
Yechury said that the people have realized the mistake they made by supporting the main opposition Trinamool Congress party.
The two-day meeting will also discuss the West Bengal government's recent announcement of increasing the OBC (Other Backward Classes) reservation in jobs from seven per cent to 17.
The party expects the West Bengal government to implement the OBC reservation in jobs effectively ahead of next year's assembly polls.
The party will also study in detail the ruling of Allahabad High Court on the Ayodhya title suits.
The politburo will also discuss the Nuclear Liability Bill, which was passed during the Monsoon Session of the parliament. (ANI)
