Must watch Indian matches in CWG on Monday Oct 4

New Delhi, Oct 4: The Commonwealth Games 2010 opening ceremony has showcased the rich Indian culture and tradition. The time for celebration ends and now starts the real action. On Monday, Oct 4, the opening day of the mega event, nations participating in different events are all set for the treasure hunt. Indians aim a big dream of becoming first in medal tally. The hopes come true with great ground support and potential stars like Saina, Sushil Kumar, Leander Paes, Abhinav Bindra etc.

Paes-Sania (Mixed Doubles)
Indians duo, who won gold in 2006 Doha Asian Games mixed doubles event, will start their hunt for the gold in the opening day. Paes-Sania team will face Saint Lucia's Stacey Nykita Roheman and Alberton Richelieu. Paes-Sania team is the top seed in the CWG mixed doubles event. Indians expect a sure gold from this team.


Sonia Chanu (48 kg category)
The dope test controversy and the ban threat are all over. Indian weightlifters have overcome all these allegations and now they are confident to grab medals for India. At the 2006 Melbourne Games Indian weightlifters won nine medals including 3 gold, 5 silver and 1 bronze. Sonia Chanu is the overwhelming favourite in the 48 kg event which will be the first to conclude at the Indira Gandhi complex on opening day.


Saina Nehwal (Group event)
India badminton team will compete in the qualifiers of the team event against Kenya in the first group match. The other teams in group D are Scotland and Wales. Indians are likely to top the group without much difficulty.


Jayanta Talukdar
Indian archery tean will start their campaign on the opening day at Yamuna Sports Complex. After finishing top with gold in the World Cup stage four in Shanghai, the men's recurve team comprising Talukdar and Banerjee will look for the same performance in home ground.
