Chennai bus strike, 3,000 buses stop on Oct 4

Chennai, Oct 4: Following the attack on four MTC employees on Oct 3, the Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) announced a flash strike in Chennai on Monday, Oct 4.

The MTC drivers clearly stated that they would not remove the strike unless police official would take stringent actions against those who assaulted their colleagues in the incident of road rage.

In response to the incident, nearly a third of the MTC"s operational fleet of 3,000 buses did not run on Oct 4 morning.

According the police officials, the four injured MTC employees were admitted to the Government General Hospital and three of them were in critical condition.

The police official also informed that a gang led by Senthil, the son of Ambattur Municipal Councillor, assaulted the MTC workers. Three MTC buses were also damaged.
