London, Sep 30(ANI): At least 20 Brit Muslims are reportedly undergoing terrorist training in Pakistan to launch 26/11 Mumbai-style shootings and suicide attacks in the United Kingdom.

According to the Telegraph, the men, who all hold British passports, are said to have travelled to Pakistan to join training camps run by Al-Qaeda and their associated militant groups.

Intelligence sources said that they are being trained to use firearms and explosives to launch random shooting sprees in the UK.

"We believe there are 15 to 20 Britons in the camps," the newspaper quoted an intelligence source, as saying.

Earlier, intelligence agencies had warned that Al-Qaeda was planning to carry out coordinated attacks in Britain, France and Germany for maximum impact.

However, the terror cells have not yet travelled to Europe, and the targets were still unclear.

US intelligence chief James Clapper said the threat is "credible, but not specific" and could include other European countries such as Spain and Italy, or even the US.

"As we have repeatedly said, we know Al-Qaeda wants to attack Europe and the United States. We continue to work closely with our European allies on the threat from international terrorism, including Al-Qaeda," Clapper said in a statement.

The 26/11 Mumbai attacks began on November 26, 2008, and lasted until November 29 killing at least 173 people and wounding at least 308 people.

Ajmal Kasab, the only attacker who was captured alive, disclosed that the attackers were members of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), a Pakistan-based militant organization.

Let is considered a terrorist organization by India, the US, the UK, the United Nations, among others. (ANI)
