New Delhi, Sep 29: As the count down began for the Ayodhya verdict, security has beefed up all over the country and at least 1.9 lakhs security personnel were deployed in and around the disputed site in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, Sep 29.

Intensive searches were being carried out in the twin towns on Ayodhya and Faizabad and security personnel have been equipped with tear gas shells and rubber bullets.

As a preventive measure, aerial survey in sensitive places, including Ram Janmbhoomi complex in Ayodhya has been done, a senior official said in Lucknow.

Borders adjoining Nepal and Uttarakhand have also been sealed and a strict vigil was maintained on all those coming to the state from these sides. Liquor and firecrackers shops would remain closed on Sep 30.

Security forces had already staged flag marches in all the sensitive places and districts, including Ayodhya, Varanasi and Mathura. And the UP government has already identified 25 districts as sensitive and 19 others as hyper-sensitive.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi have appealed to the people to maintain communal harmony in the state.
