Kuala Lumpur, Sept 28 (ANI): The youngest brother of missing Indian millionaire, A. Muthuraja, has claimed that some unscrupulous people have taken advantage of his family's helplessness and desperation and cheated them during their attempt to find clues about his whereabouts.

Muthuraja's youngest brother Dr Kasi Viswanathan said a family friend had put him across to an Indian businessman in Chennai who had lived in Malaysia for 13 years and had many contacts there. During the meeting, the businessman promised him that Muthuraja would be back "within the next 48 hours", which never happened.

According to The Star, by the end of January, the businessman had also put him on the phone with a Malaysian "politician", who assured him that the job could be done easily as he had "top contacts".Initially, there was no mention of money but the Indian businessman started demanding for it. We paid him in stages, beginning with RM30, 000," he said, alleging that both men had told him that Muthuraja was "well and under police custody".

After paying the amount, he was told that Muthuraja was with a person named "Elil", whom he had met through his brother in Chennai in July in 2009. However, he alleged that the businessman told him the politician was "unhappy" after he turned down his suggestion to engage the "services" of some underworld people to deal with Elil.

"I was told by Elil that they would bring my brother to the airport and put him on the same flight with me on March 24. I went to the airport but both Elil and my brother were nowhere to be seen," he added.

Elil had claimed that there were "some problems" and Muthuraja would be on his way back to Chennai after that. After almost losing all hopes, he visited one of the lawyer brothers implicated in cosmetics millionaire Datuk Sosilawati Lawiya's murder, who then took him to lodge a missing person report at the Klang district police station.

"The police asked me to invite Elil for a meal so that they could ambush him but he did not come," said Dr Kasi claimed. (ANI)
