Sex abuse rampant in Pak seminary

Mianwali, Sep 26 (ANI): A seminary girl student has made a shocking revelation that sex abuse is rampant in her seminary in Pakistan.

Sixteen-year-old Hafiza Shafia Saeed has disclosed that every girl student in her seminary at Astana Aalia Nooria Koh Chandan was subjected to sex abuse by the 'scions' of the pirs, The News reported.

Hafiza complained to the police that she was gangraped by Rashiduz Zaman, grandson of Pir Muniruz Zaman, and another student Muhammad Tariq, who also made her obscene videos.

She tried to get a case registered with the Kalabagh police, but failed to do so. Later, the additional sessions judge ordered the Kalabagh police to register a case against the accused under section 376, 371 A and B of the PPC, but the police registered a case under section 376 of the PPC.

Addressing a press conference, Hafiza said that the police were afraid of renowned religious figures of Kot Chandana and were reluctant to arrest co-accused Tariq and Ayaz.

The victim appealed to IGP Punjab Tariq Saleem Dogar and Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to order a high-level inquiry into the matter and award exemplary punishment for the accused.

When contacted, Kalabagh SHO Badr Muneer categorically refused to arrest co-accused Tariq and Ayaz, saying that he would arrest them if charges against them were proved. (ANI)
