Faizabad, Sep. 25 (ANI): Members of the Muslim community here offered special prayers for a favourable verdict on Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid case.

This special congregation on the occasion of Friday prayers was held after the Supreme Court of India directed the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court to defer the pronouncement of verdict in the sensitive case.

Mohammad Zameer Naib who is an Imam of Jama Masjid at Faizabad termed the Supreme Court's deferment in the case as a wrong signal given to the world.

"This statement of the Supreme Court is not justifiable at all. This is sending a wrong message to the world that our court is so weak in its decision that at one point it gave one decision and then again said that the decision will be given later," said Imam Naib.

He also said that the verdict should be pronounced at the earliest.

"We, on Friday offered special prayers and after that we even prayed to Allah for the favourable verdict and even thanked that the tensed situation has passed for the time being but the decision should be delivered as soon as possible," said Imam Naib.

The apex court will now hear an appeal for a stay on the verdict on September 28, filed by Ramesh Chand Tripathi, a retired bureaucrat, who said the matter could be settled out of court as it could ignite communal tensions and spark sectarian violence in the country.
