New Delhi, Sep 24: England's first group of athletes for the Commonwealth Games arrived in India on Friday, Sep 24.

The England's first batch of twenty-two member men's hockey team and lawn bowls teams arrived at Indira Gandhi International airport. Instead of staying in Games village, teams decided to stay in hotels. Officials told that teams will stay in hotels and later on Monday, Sep 27 will move to Games village.

"We are seeing the improved levels of resourcing required to resolve the operational issues. We'll monitor the situation to ensure the village and stadia are safe," said Commonwealth Games England in a statement on Thursday, Sep 23.

Media reports about the unpleasant condition of the Games village proved a setback for India's efforts to showcase its modernity to the world.

Commonwealth Games Federation President Michael Fennell inspected the Games venues and told that the works have to be finished before Oct 3, start of the two-week long event.
