Oz govt to send cops for athletes' security at CWG
The reports said that the government was concerned about athletes' families and fans and were asked to register the number of people heading to games village.
It also said the officials were preparing contingency plans to evacuate Australians in case they are struck down by dengue fever or trapped in a terrorist attack.
After receiving reports, Sports Minister Mark Arbib said the government is solely concerned about protecting Australian athletes and officials.
"There is no tightrope for us. The No. 1 priority for the Australian government is the safety and security of our athletes and supporters," Arbib said.
Arbib also confirmed that about about 100,000 local police would guard the games village.
