PM initiates clean up of CWG village

New Delhi, Sep 22: After the worst criticism about CWG village on Sep 21, Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh now moved into the row, expecting to sort out the issue.

Singh has asked New Delhi's Lieutenant Governor, Tejendra Khanna to personally oversee the clean-up of the village and renovation of the apartments to house athletes and officials.

A government senior official informed that Lt. Governor will be submitting a day-to-day status report to the prime minster.

All this action comes only after Commonwealth Games Federation CEO Michael Fennell slammed the facilities at the athletes' village as ''substandard'' and ''filthy'."

Fennell also criticised because the athletes" village itself was also unsafe with loose wires, poorly built doors and leaking toilets.
