Rawalpindi, Sep 20(ANI): Pakistan Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Babar Awan has said that the government is fully complying with the Supreme Court, and no wind is blowing for any kind of change.

Awan also said that parliament will live up to the expectations of the people.

The Supreme Court had earlier expressed its discontent over the government's inaction in light of its December 2009 verdict declaring the controversial amnesty law, the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) as 'unconstitutional', following which all pending cases against President Asif Ali Zardari and other beneficiaries of the NRO had to be reopened.

Zardari and his assassinated wife Benazir Benazir were convicted by a Geneva court in 2003 of laundering 13 million dollars linked to kickbacks, but that verdict was overturned on appeal. In 2008, Swiss judicial authorities said they had closed the file related to the case.

The Minister further slammed Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif for targeting Zardari and the government during his visits to the flood affected areas in the country.

"If Nawaz Sharif was eager to play a role in the supremacy of parliament, he should do so through a constitutional way and contest the upcoming polls in the National Assembly," The Daily Times quoted Awan, as saying.

He added that Nawaz's limitations under the Jeddah pact would be over in December, and he would be able to contest the by-polls after that. (ANI)
