Islamabad, Sept 16 (ANI): Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai has dismissed reports of India using Afghan territory to destabilise Balochistan, saying that his country would not allow its territory to be used against Pakistan, as that would be against its own interest.

Addressing a joint press conference with Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari, Karzai denied allegations that India had been involved in Balochistan insurgency using Afghan territory for the purpose, and asked Pakistan to hand over any evidence in this regard, if they had any, the Daily Times reports.

"It is not in the interest of Afghanistan... it is rather against the interest of Afghanistan. Please trust us... if you have some evidence in this regard, give it to us," Karzai said, adding that action would be taken based on credible information.

He described the meeting with Zardari, which took place before the press conference, as wide-ranging and productive, and said that the main issue was how to tackle the sanctuaries, training, finances and resources used for terrorism in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The two countries decided in the meeting that security, counter-terrorism, economic, trade and investment, infrastructure development and connectivity and energy should be top priority areas to enhance mutual cooperation.

Karzai, on a two-day visit to Pakistan, is also going to meet Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, army chief General Ashfaq Kayani and Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi.(ANI)
