Andhra: Double trouble for PRP chief Chiranjeevi

Hyderabad, Sep 14: Trouble seems to be mounting for Praja Rajayam Party (PRP) chief K Chirajeevi as a day after he was arrested while staging a dharna outside the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC), the actor-turned-politician has been booked in a different case.

Chiranjeevi along with other senior party leaders were arrested on Monday, Sep 13 when they staged a dharna outside the APIIC demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into its controversial land deals over the last six years.

Making an example of the EMAAR properties land deal, which supposedly caused a loss of several thousands of crore of rupees to the Government, the PRP chief alleged that thousands of acres of land was given away to industrial houses and real estate developers in violation of rules.

Police stepped in when Chiranjeevi and other PRP leaders tried to enter the APIIC building to submit a memorandum to the authorities.

Besides this, police had earlier warned PRP against holding the agitation as there was a possibility of attack by activists of the Telangana Students Joint Action Committee.

Now, a day after he was arrested, Mr Chiranjeevi's name has emerged in another case. The PRP chief along with other leader Sobharani have been booked for accusing activists of Osmania University Joint Action Committee (OUJAC) activists of demanding money to allow screening of this brother, Pawan Kalyan"s film 'Komaram Puli'.

According to local media reports, the OUJAC activists have alleged that the PRP leaders had made provocative remarks against them besides charging them of demanding money.

A case has been registered against the leaders in Osmania University police station.
