5.3-magnitude quake rattles NZ's Hawke Bay
The quake hit 10 km south-east of Porangahau at a depth of 20 km at 4:18 pm (local time).
So far there have been no reports of damage or injury. However, the quake was experienced by many, according to the local media.
According to New Zeland Herald, the earthquake was felt around the Hawke's Bay and as far as Massey University in Palmerston North and tremors were also reported on Mt Taranaki.
Last Saturday, Sep 4, a powerful 7.1-magnitude struck Christchurch flattening several buildings and destroying roads and infrastructure.
Over the past five days, more than 300 aftershocks have been experienced in the region and many of these have been over 4.5 in magnitude. The aftershocks are traumatising the residents even as the country tries to pick itself up and return to normalcy.
