Rajasthan school teacher 'molests' Brit tourist
According to the police, the incident happened on Saturday, Sep 4 evening. The woman and her boyfriend were walking in the Nahar Ka Chauta area of Bundi when the the accused school teacher, identified as Omprakash, approached them and requested them to see his paintings at his residence.
When they obliged, Omprakash allegedly tried to molest the foreign tourist at his residence, an official at Kotwali police station told a news agency.
"Both of them came to us and complained about the incident," he said.
However, since the British woman is not ready to file a written complaint on the charge of molestation, the police has arrested Omprakash on charges of disturbing peace.
This case adds to the growing list of shameful incidents in which foreign tourists have been targeted in India.
On Aug 17, a 20-year-old tourist from UK was allegedly molested by an employee of Jatri Niwas, located near the Sun Temple, where she was staying.
The state of Rajasthan alone has reported several such cases. Here are few cases - in 2005, a 47-year-old German tourist was raped by an auto-rickshaw driver and his accomplice in Jodhpur, in Mar 2006, a 26-year-old German was raped by a senior police officer's son, and in Apr 2006, a Japanese woman was raped and robbed by a hotel manager's son.
