Cops face death, security beefed up for Bihar CM

Nitish Kumar
Patna, Sep 3: As the remaining three abducted policemen face the threat of being butuchered by Maoists, security has been tightened for Bihar Chief Minister Nitsh Kumar's protection.

All routes leading to the chief minister's residence have been sealed, patrolling has been intensified in the security zone area, additional security personnel were deployed at the checkposts in the routes of the residence near Raj Bhavan, an official informed.

Besides this, security has also been beefed up at the road leading to the Sanjay Gandhi Zoological Park, and Desh Ratna Marg, and the 4 KG area which also houses Chief Minister's office.

Avinash, a self-proclaimed Maoist spokesman, had earlier sought to hold talks with the Chief Minister.

"We are keen to talk with the chief minister on the issue," he said.

The Maoists, who abducted four police personnel on Sunda, Aug 29 from Lakhisarai district, sought release of eight red rebels lodged in jail.

However, since the government failed to act, the Left Wing extremists extended deadlines several times but on running out of patience they killed one of the abducted policemen, identified as BMP havaldar Lucas Tete.
