ISRO to launch Chandrayaan-2 in 2013
On Monday, Aug 30, ISRO explained in a press release that the Chandrayaan-2 will have an Orbiter(Satellite), a lander and a rover. Chandrayaan-2 is planned to be launched by Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) from Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota, while the lander will be provided by Russia, the orbiter and the rover were being built by ISRO.
A National Committee of Experts chaired by Prof UR Rao, Chairman, Advisory Committee on Space Sciences (ADCOS) decided the payloads to be flown onboard Chandrayaan-2. There will be five payloads on Chandrayaan-2, of which three are new and two are improved versions of the payloads flown earlier on Chandrayaan-1 orbiter.
