Google buys Angstro to compete against Facebook
Angstro built a service that scoured the web and the blogosphere for news about users friends from sites like Facebook and LinkedIn and delivered it to the user.
Angstro co-founder Rohit Khare told that he had shut down Angstro and joined Google in a note on his company"s website. Khare has created a number of products that will be very useful to Google, including one that exports information from Facebook and other social networks. Any how Google did not disclose the terms of the agreement.
On Thursday, Aug 26, Google launched a new website which indexes and serves up status updates, messages and other public content from social network hubs. The new acquisition shows the importance given to social networking hubs by big players like Microsoft and Google.
