The study conducted in the last week of Jul 2010 by AVG also revealed that African country Sierra Leone was the safest country to surf the web. Researchers in AVG compiled a list of virus and malware attacks by country picked up by AVG security software, with data from more than 127 million computers in 144 countries to determine incidence rates of such attacks.
The safest web surfing country, Sierra Leone, has an average of one attack for every 692 web surfers. The second most safest country was Niger with an average of one attack in every 442 surfers.
The study also showed that countries like Turkey, Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan have the highest rates of virus and malware attacks. The United States ranked ninth with one in every 48 web surfers at risk and the United Kingdom was 30th with a rate of one in 63.
