Islamabad, Aug.27 (ANI): Angered over the relentless media scrutiny of the government concerning credibility issues, Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has urged the country's media to stop criticising the administration.

Gilani said the media should help the government to urge the international community to fly in more funds for the thousands of flood victims instead of criticising it.

"Are we not dealing with the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank? Are international donors not funding us?" Gilani told a private television channel.

"Had there been an issue of credibility, would they still be providing us the funds?" he asked.

Describing the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) led government as the "popularly elected coalition government", Gilani asked the media to refrain from criticism and added that it was not playing its due role amid the current crisis.

"You should trust the people of Pakistan. They have elected us. Do not humiliate their conscience," The Daily Times quoted Gilani, as saying.

"You are creating a hype. You are not helping the country. You are preventing Pakistan from getting aid," he said. (ANI)
